ARENA DEFENDER
A MIXED REALITY GAME ENGAGING THOUSANDS OF FANS

Thu November 12, 2026 10:00 am CET

What if 10,000 fans could become part of the game?

Arena Defender is a multi-award-winning Mixed Reality experience developed for Red Bull Munich at the SAP Garden Stadium. During live matches, four MR players face off against the entire arena as fans create and launch virtual objects into the action via a custom web app.

Thomas Giegerich, co-founder and Managing Director of bright! studios, takes participants behind the scenes of this ambitious project. He reveals how physical arena, video cube, mobile devices, and Mixed Reality are synchronized in real time and how technology and spatial storytelling come together to turn spectators into active participants. The session explores what becomes possible when live sports, gaming, and immersive technology converge at stadium scale – and the audience is no longer just watching.
