Dr. Nick Were, orthopedic surgery resident at Kenyatta National Hospital, is rethinking how technology can transform patient care in resource-constrained environments.
In this fireside chat with Paul Simon Waiyaki, he shares how 3D-printed prosthetics enable affordable, highly customized solutions that restore mobility, confidence, and dignity – from young patients to a 99-year-old, and even athletes returning to competitive sports.
At the same time, Waiyaki is advancing the use of XR in medical training and surgery, opening up new ways for students and professionals to learn through immersive simulation through the Africa VR Campus MedXR Program, bringing VR-based training to the next generation of healthcare professionals in Africa.
You are invited to explore: how can immersive technologies close gaps in global healthcare and what happens when innovation is driven by real human need? Join us for a conversation at the intersection of medicine, technology, and impact.
