How can immersive environments transform teaching, learning, and cross-cultural connection? This panel brings together diverse perspectives from the fields of education and innovation. 
Chris Madsen empowers organizations worldwide through the ENGAGE XR platform. Wolf Arne Storm and his team at the Goethe-Institut created GoetheVRsum, which explores new formats in culture, language, and creativity. Marlene May researches and teaches in 3D virtual spaces at Karlshochschule International University and Birgit Giering is pioneering the large-scale adoption of XR in schools of North Rhine-Westphalia. Moderated by Prof. Dr. Dr. Björn Bohnenkamp, this session will explore the future of learning beyond traditional classrooms.

Since 2013, Chris Madsen has championed immersive technology to transform how people connect. As Senior Sales Engineer at ENGAGE XR, he partners with educators and institutions to deliver XR-powered training, collaboration, education, and events. Having worked across the XR ecosystem in multiple roles, Chris is a recognized passionate voice, known for making complex technology clear and inspiring, and showing how immersive experiences are redefining the way humans work, play, and learn.

Birgit Giering
Head of the state-wide projects working group (DigitalPakt Schule) at Medienberatung NRW

Birgit Giering is a certified high school teacher and has been working in various fields at Medienberatung NRW since 2003. She currently supports the Ministry of Schools and Education of North Rhine-Westphalia in implementing the pilot projects Digital Making Places (DMP) and Virtual Reality. As division manager, she is particularly responsible for smooth communication with the participating municipal institutions and for project-related support formats.

Marlene May
Research Associate at the Real-World Laboratory “Future Democracies”, Karlshochschule International University

 Marlene May is a doctoral candidate at the Universität Konstanz in cooperation with Karlshochschule in the field of media studies on the topic of social VR, identity and virtual groups. In addition to her work in the real-world laboratory „Future Democracies“ at Karlshochschule she works in her research on topics of social and digital transformation as well as self, identity and representation in social virtual environments, digital spaces and virtual (sub-)groups.

Wolf Arne Storm
Coordination and Product Ownership “GoetheVRsum,” at Goethe-Institut Headquarters Munich

Wolf Arne Storm is the overall coordinator and product owner of GoetheVRsum and serves as Advisor for Cultural and Creative Industries at the Goethe-Institut headquarters in Munich. With GoetheVRsum, he leads the development of a multiplayer 3D environment inspired by Bauhaus design principles – an interactive space where visitors explore new formats in culture, language, education, and creativity through immersive encounters.

Professor for Marketing

Björn Bohnenkamp is Professor of Marketing, Media, and Consumer Culture and Vice President at Karlshochschule International University in Karlsruhe, where he heads the Creativity and Management program. As coordinator of the  „Future Democracies“ real-world laboratory, he explores the question of how participatory cooperation can succeed in institutions, markets, and virtual environments.
